Recently things went back and forth between probably the most renowned MMA reporter Ariel Helwani and UFC Flyweight champion Nicco Montano.
Montano won the belt defeating veteran Roxanne Modafferi almost six months ago in December. Montano has not defended her belt since then. Meanwhile former women’s bantamweight challenger Valentina Shevchenko has made her shot at the title pretty obvious. Helwani posted a tweet about the current situation of Montano which definitely turned some heads.
Helwani tweeted, “UFC is losing patience with Nicco Montaño. As I reported last week, the plan was for her to defend the 125 title against Valentina Shevchenko in Calgary but they are having a hard time getting a commitment from her. While it’s not scrapped, they are now looking at other options.” (via Twitter):

Montano lashed out at Helwani with heated statements of her own and also issued an apology to Helwani later. Just when the fire seemed to be cooling down, UFC President Dana White ripped Helwani when he was asked whether Helwani was correct in a recent interview regarding this matter.
“Of course he wasn’t correct, Who the f*** does Ariel Helwani talk to at the UFC? Nobody here is talking to him, you know what I mean?”, White said.
White clarified saying, “What we found out is that, he was actually talking to Valentina’s (Shevchenko) people who said that is not what we told Ariel, we told him that we were getting very frustrated with Nicco, not the UFC.”
He continued saying, “Nobody is here telling Ariel Helwani jack s***, you think we’re calling Ariel going we getting frustrated and if there’s anybody that’s gonna say we’re getting frustrated, there’s three guys and I’m one of them and none of us are talking to f***ing Ariel Helwani, that I can guarantee you”.
White later claimed that it was the UFC that brought her to Vegas to get her foot injury and tonsillectomy done.
“Exactly when physical shit is going wrong with you, its not like she’s faking a f***ing injury like some people f***ing do around here, when you have your f***ing tonsils out, you’re not faking an injury”, White said.
He concluded saying, ” It’s such a stupid thing to say when nobody is here talking to him but that’s typical, that’s him, that’s what he does, he always tries to act like he’s on the inside and he knows what’s going on, get the f*** out of here.” (via YouTube):
