The UFC made an interesting experiment in trying former WWE superstar CM Punk who wanted to make transition into MMA.

Punk made his much anticipated debut at UFC 203 back in September 2016 against newcomer Mickey Gall. Expectedly Punk suffered a crushing defeat getting submitted in the first round after ground and pound.

UFC 225 main card kicked off with Punk getting an another chance in the UFC against Mike Jackson. Punk lost the fight via unanimous decision. Punk displayed heart and courage to go all three rounds and has definitely made significant amount of progress. However UFC president Dana White thinks that’s enough for Punk under the UFC banner. (via YouTube):

“Listen, he got clipped a lot in that fight, and it looked like he was hurt bad a couple of times. He stayed in there, he went for three rounds,” White said at Sunday’s UFC 225 post-fight press conference.

“It should be a wrap. The guy’s 39 years old. I love the guy. He’s the nicest guy in the world. We gave him two shots, and he had a lot of heart tonight in this fight, and yeah, I think he should call it a wrap.”
