Undefeated English prospect Darren ‘The Gorilla’ Till will his big shot as he prepares to take on the biggest challenge of his life against champion Tyron ‘The Chosen One’ Woodley this weekend at UFC 228.
As the fight week shenanigans begin, a visually sucked up Darren Till showed up to the traditional open workouts. However before the open workouts, Till told MMAFighting.com’s John Morgan that he walks around 182 pounds which is his normal striking zone with these amount of days remaining.
However, Till looked really explosive sparring and drilling his trademark Muay Thai style left hand. All his past opponents have fallen victim to Till’s left hand including the likes of Donald Cerrone and Stephen Thompson. A European prospect with a strong left hand taking on a dominant champ, sounds familiar?
With the matchup between Woodley and Till being so interesting, the left hand can play a pivotal role. Woodley being an orthodox fighter is more susceptible to Till’s left hand coming from a southpaw stance. However on the other hand, Woodley has always faced southpaws namely Robbie Lawler, Demian Maia, Kelvin Gastelum, Dong Hyun Kim, etc. Also keeping in mind, Till being so huge carries just an inch reach advantage over Woodley and Woodley being 5’9″ has the experience of fighting tall fighters.
Hence, the fight is equally poised in the striking department however it’s Woodley’s wrestling arsenal which can cause trouble to Till.
