UFC 228 features an absolute barn burner as champ Tyron ‘The Chosen One’ Woodley will defend his title for the fourth time against undefeated English prospect Darren Till.
Just by his stature and nickname ‘The Gorilla’, it is pretty evident that Darren Till is a huge man for the welterweight class. Reportedly Till walks around 205 pounds, which leaves him around at least 35 pounds to cut. The dreadful phenomenon led Till to miss weight twice in his six fights under the UFC banner.
At just 25 years of age, Till is still growing physically and understands his days as a welterweight are numbered. Recently in an interview, Till revealed his plan of winning the welterweight title and defending it once or twice before moving up to middleweight.
“Only a few more fights at welterweight and I’m done,” Till told the gathered media at the UFC Performance Institute on Tuesday in Las Vegas.
When he does eventually move up to middleweight, Till said he will earn his way up towards the middleweight title and not frog leap other contenders.
“I believe in life you have to earn your stripes. If I did go to middleweight in the UFC and they offered me the title I’m not going to say no. But I’m saying I’d love to earn my stripes, fight the top five, top ten. For me, going up to middleweight, I’m not focusing on the belt because I know I’m the best; I know I’ll win that belt as well.”
