UFC: Dustin Poirier shows off badly bruised leg after war with Justin Gaethje

Dustin Poirier has been on a blistering run after his move up to the light-weight division winning 7 of his 9 fights. The latest of which came in fight of the year contender vs Justin Gaethje at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

The fight was an absolute barn-burner with both fighters going back and forth in momentum. Dustin had early success with his hands, while Gaethje continuously picked apart Poirier with inside leg kicks. Gaethje seemed liked he had the upper hand when he poured it on in the 3rd round with more devastating leg kicks, but Dustin came out firing in the 4th round and finished the fight abruptly via TKO. It was a great spectacle and title contending win, but it did not come without a price.

Battle Scars

Poirier took to twitter to show off his battle scars and it did not paint a pretty picture. Below you can see how badly his right leg had swollen 24 hours from the fight.

Dustin also took turns to congratulate ‘warrior’ Justin Gaethje for putting on a battle.

Poirier, who is on a winning streak at LW, with huge wins over Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje and a controversial no contest vs Eddie Alvarez, will be looking at bigger things now and has his eyes set on a title fight. Poirier in his post-fight speech said he had no interest in a rematch with Alvarez or Conor Mcgregor, and wants to fight Khabib for the title as soon as possible. Dana White also confirmed that Poirier is right in the mix after the spectacle on Saturday night.
