UFC Lightweight Edson Barboza will headline the UFC Fight Night in Atlantic City this weekend when he lock horns with Kevin Lee. Currently boasting a professional record of 19-5 to his name, Barboza is coming into the fight on the back of a forgettable defeat against current Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Despite the nature of his defeat Barboza said that it’s something that motivates him ahead of the fight with Lee. Barboza revealed the same during an interview with the MMA Junkie.

“Of course, it’s very, very motivating. I really, really hope to fight with this guy again, as soon as possible. I don’t know if he stays champ, but definitely I’m very motivated.” He said.

Hope everyone talks about me

Prior to his defeat against Khabib, Barboza was on a three-fight winning streak which included a win against former champion Anthony Pettis. While the Russian has derailed his momentum, Barboza still remains hopeful of getting a title shot soon.

But it would be easier said than done. The top of the Lightweight division is a huge mess at the moment with the likes of Tony Ferguson and Conor McGregor clearly in line to receive a shot.

Barboza believes that he could get closer to the title if people start talking about him after his fight in the weekend.

“I hope on Sunday, everybody is talking about me, about my performance and the fight. I know that if people talk about me, I’ll be close to the title.” He added.

Meanwhile, Kevin Lee is coming into the fight with a record of 16-3. He lost out to former interim champion Tony Ferguson in his last fight and had his own winning streak of five fights prior to this defeat.

Though both fighters are coming off a loss the UFC Atlantic City main event is expected to have huge implications on the Lightweight division.
