Former Olympic gold-medallist in Freestyle wrestling and top UFC flyweight contender Henry Cejudo shocked the world when he defeated the greatest flyweight of all time (in his prime) and won the belt. Cejudo, coming into this fight was a massive +400 betting underdog. However, he overcame adversity and turned on the tables.
Later he gave the credit of his victory to his coach Captain Eric. In fact, in an emotinal backstage moment Cejudo presented the belt to his coach Eric Albarracin and revealed how he motivated him not to give up and pursue the belt. Here’s what Cejudo said while presenting the belt to his coach:
I wanted to present this belt to the Captain Eric because he is the one that push me to not give up. Because that one time when I did not make weight, I told the UFC that I was done man..but Eric was like, “Dude, you are not. You are not done”. This is the guy I fought for, and for that reason Captain, you are also a world champion coach now. Congratulations!
Captain Eric got visibly emotional and said the following while holding the UFC belt:
Can you believe that? Can you believe that? I just received the belt from the greatest combat athlete of all time. This is one of the greatest moment of my life….We took the castle baby!
Below is the tweet posted by Ariel Helwani in which Cejudo can be seen presenting his coach with the belt:
Privileged to witness this moment between @HenryCejudo and @CPTdasAmericas after our show tonight. Captain Eric doesn’t get enough credit for being one of the best coaches in the game, so it was real cool to see Cejudo give him the belt. Could tell he got emotional. pic.twitter.com/0bUi9FXsNM
