There has been a huge question mark over Conor McGregor’s MMA future. He hasn’t fought in the UFC for over a year. He also has only been active once since winning the title at UFC 205, and that was in a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather around 7 months ago. Everyone has had their say on McGregor’s future and the latest one to join the fray is veteran UFC lightweight Evan Dunham.

In a recent interview given to MMA Weekly, Dunham talked about his own future and about McGregor’s as well.

Here’s what he had to say about his own future:

I’ve always just kind of acquainted it down to one thing, my biggest fear. My biggest fear is looking back and saying, “what if?!”. I don’t ever wanna say, “what if”, you know. You know, if I cut too short, I don’t wanna be that old guy sitting on the couch explaining to my grand kids that I could have done this, if I would have, no. No, what if’s. i’m gonna hero it out until there’s nothing and when there’s nothing left, I’ll know and then I’ll be okay walking away.

He believes McGregor will return to MMA this year. Here’s what he had to say:

I hope he does you know. For his sake, I think he would want to, like kind a talking about, what if’s you know. Never being able to say what if. He is at a point where he is obviously one of the best in the world. He’s still got to beat a few guys to, you know to kind of keep that ball rowing at this point because he has been away for so long. But I don’t see him not wanting to get back, he is a fighter, all fighters want to get back. I understand the lay off. If I had made that kind of money I’d take that kind of a lay off too and you’d see me on a yacht in some ocean hanging out at as well (chuckles). But I think there would be a time where he’d get that itch again and he’s gonna have to scratch it. So yeah, we will see him back, I think.

I think he will be back within the year, my opinion.
