Former UFC Champion Fabricio Werdum suffered a fourth round knockout loss to Alexander Volkov on Saturday at UFC London.
That loss was the second one he suffered in his last four fights.

Werdum started on the front and managed to take the fight to the ground – where he could then look to apply his prodigious skill in jiu jitsu – but failed to capitalise as Volkov’s long limbs ensured that he would always get back up.
Eventually as the rounds ticked by, Werdum started fading and Volkov’s striking started taking the fight over, earning him a 4th round finish.
The win probably propels Volkov into Title contention while Werdum makes his way back to the drawing board.
A day after the defeat though, Werdum came out with a statement on Instagram that said:
I would like to thank everyone who cheered for me, who sent me messages of support and who are by my side in this difficult moment which is a defeat.
I am sad but I keep my head up with the certainty that life is made and mistakes and correct and that the most important of this trajectory is how we rise from a fall.
I am fortunate to have happiness and determination in my heart and to be surrounded by people who respect me and who give me the energy that I need to continue my path of success.
Thanks for the support and know that each one of you is very important to me!
