Cat Zingano defeated Marion Reneau via Unanimous Decision
The bantamweigt clash between two veteran mom’s turned out to be a one sided domination with Alpha Cat Zingano setting a record of 7 take downs in a women’s bantamweight fight. The previous record of 6 takedowns was set by Ronda Rousey. Right from the first round, Zingano made it clear that her takedowns are going to be the key tonight, but she also mixed it up with her leg kicks which had significant impact on her opponent. Marion kept pressing forward to clinch and take Zingano down, but each of her takedowns were defended. The last time she got her hand raised was in 2014 and with this win, Zingano snapped her three fight losing skid.
Chad Mendes defeated Myles Jury via TKO in Round 1
Chad Mendez eager to perform in the Octagon after two long years of absence strikes first with by feinting a right and then a left hook that stunned Myles Jury dropping him on the mat. That was the only punch from Chad after a slow initial start to put Jury in a danger zone. Chad then pounced on Jury who was trying to recover but a series of punches from Chad gave him no time to get back up though he covered almost all the punches. The referee saw it enough and stepped in to stop the fight.
Knocking out your opponent from the bottom position with hammer fists is something we don’t see often inside the Octagon, but Niko Price did exactly that. He only needed six big time hard hammer fists from an awkward position to put Randy Brown to sleep. After being dominated in the first round by Brown, Niko goes for a take down but gets caught up in a guillotine and with a quick scramble lands up on the ground. Brown’s chin was open enough for Price to take advantage and land some heavy bombs.
Rick Glenn defeated Dennis Bermudez via Split Decision
A controversial split decision win for Rick Glenn even though the third round being clearly dominated by Dennis Bermudez. The first two rounds saw back and forth action between these two as Dennis was relentless with his takedown attempts but Ric denied it in the first round. It was all punches and kicks from Dennis there on who landed some heavy shots. In the second round, Dennis gets two taked owns but the judges seem to have overlooked it as Rick relied on his strikes. A shocked and disappointed Dennis who has now lost four straight fights left the octagon as the crowed booed the judges results. If at all Dennis gets another fight in the UFC, he should cal out Glenn for a rematch.
Sage Northcutt defeated Zak Ottow via TKO in Round 2
Making his welterweight debut in a bang, Sage was rocked early in the first round as Zak landed an overhand right that got his knees jelly and dropping on the ground. Zak was unable to capitalize the situation and submit Sage who later turned the tables as he finished the round with an attempt to choke Zak. In the second round Sage came out aggressive and began pouring heavy strikes. A straight left handed on the button and dropped Zak. Sage soon took him down and poured hammer fists until the referee stepped in to call it a fight.
Junior dos Santos defeated Blagoy Ivanov via Unanimous Decision
Blagoy Ivanov displayed true Bulgarian fighting spirit against the former champion but fell short due to the height and reach disadvantage. He landed some heavy strikes but most of the time fell short to land them on the target. Dos Santos was also difficult to hit as he displayed some brilliant head movement and foot work. Inavnov landed a heavy overhand right but failed to follow up and missed the opportunity to put Dos Santos in trouble. A complete back and forth kickboxing fight between these two heavyweights kept the crowd on their feet.
