Livinha Souza defeated Sarah Frota via Split Decision

The undefeated Sarah Frota was already in on the wrong side of the fight as she first missed weight by 7 lbs and then had to forgo 20% of her purse for her scheduled strawweight matchup against Livi Renata Souza. Frota did look like the bigger fighter in the cage but it didn’t mean anything to Renata who used her takedowns and submission attempts to drain the last ounce of energy from Frota. Renata kept herself busy after scoring a quick takedown in the first round and working for armbars and chokes. Frota managed to flip the position but Renata continued to do her work from the bottom. Frota had her chance to shine as she pushed forward and landed some clean combos in t he second round, but the relentless Renata almost finished her with a rear naked choke int he final seconds.

With this win Renata, extends her record to 13-1, with four straight wins as she picks up her second win inside the Octagon and handed Frota her first professional loss.

If this is going to be the final year of Jose Aldo’s illustrious fighting career, then we’re sure to see more fireworks and finishes from the former featherweight kingpin and champion. At one point when Renato was hurt, Aldo went on a reckless mode and landed some vicious shots to the head and body. There was no room for recovery after Renato ate the nasty right uppercut and seemed out of the fight. Jose Aldo improved his record to 28-4 as he wins his second straight fight.

Marlon Moraes defeated Raphael Assuncao via Submission in Round 1

Moraes settles score with Raphael in their rematch and submitted him in the main event with a Guillotine Choke at 3:17 secs. A much improved and dangerous Moraes was no match for Raphael who struggled on the feet and got dropped with a pair of combo. Leg kicks from Moraes set the pace of the fight and gave him the range to land that huge right hand. Raphael looked like he was recovering but Moraes didn’t want to miss this opportunity and quickly jumped on the top. In no time, Raphael was deep into the choke and had to surrender.
