Anthony Pettis defeated Stephen Thompson via KO in Round 2
Pettis made a big statement with his welterweight debut against the former title challenger Thompson. The first round was a slow starter but in the favour of Thompson who controlled the fight with his range and kicks. Thompson landed some clean shots that saw Pettis bleed and in difficult situation. The pace continued in the second round but in an unexpected turn of events, Pettis pulled off a superman punch just when he was being backed up to the cage and landed flush on the chin. The punch was so hard that Thompson dropped right away. Pettis is now back on the win column while Thompson has now lost two in a row.
