Maycee Barber defeated J.J. Aldrich via TKO in Round 2
With less than six months into making her UFC debut, Barber the 20 year old strawweight prospect has racked up two dominant wins via TKO, both coming in round 2. The win tonight didn’t come easy as Barber had to initially struggle against Aldrich who entered this bout with a three fight win streak. Aldrich bought in her usual aggressive fight game from the first round and scored a big knockdown with a solid left. Aldrich continued to put pressure with her offense, but Barber found her way and began utilizing her kicks to stay in the fight. With growing confidence, Barber began executing her game plan of fighting in the pocket where she landed nasty elbows. A big right hand from Barber turned tables as Aldrich was left staggered and unable to defend the barrage of punches leaning against the cage. referee Keith Peterson stepped in to stop fight at 3:01 secs of round 2. With this win, Barber keeps her record intact to 7-0 while Aldrich snaps her three fight win streak.
Luis Pena defeated Steven Peterson via Unanimous Decision
With Luis Pena missing weight and coming in beyond the featherweight limit, this bout was turned into a catchweight matchup which resulted into a back and forth fight. Peterson was clearly unhappy and displayed his emotions via his striking as he opened the first round aggressively and rushed towards Pena taking him down. Had Peterson’s armbar been on point, it would have been a short night for Pena, but he escaped with a slam. Pena than began outworking Peterson with his punches and bloodied his opponent. Pena had to deal with the same aggression in round two and three taking Pena down multiple times, but Pena made it back and with striking prowess was able to deal with Peterson’s aggression as he bloodied ‘Ocho’ with his crisp striking.
Jussier da Silva defeated Deiveson Figueiredo via Unanimous Decision
Silva handed Figueiredo his first career and UFC loss after easily outworking him for three rounds and showcasing his superior striking skills. Figueiredo started off strong and proved to b a dangerous striker but the much experienced Silva was not overwhelmed by his Brazilian counterpart. As the fight progresses, Silva began taking down Figueiredo and landed some big shots that cut open Figueiredo. Silva continued his onslaught in the third round and stayed away from any aggressive action Figueiredo brought in.

John Makdessi defeated Jesus Pinedo via Unanimous Decision
Curtis Blaydes defeated Justin Willis via Unanimous Decision
#4 ranked Curtis Blaydes and #10 ranked Justin Willis clashed in this heavyweight co-main event fight for three rounds. Blaydes emerged victorious with his dominant performance and as he repeatedly took Willis to the ground. It was a big win for Blaydes after his previous loss to Francis. Handing Willis his first UFC loss, Blaydes made sure it happened in a dominant fashion. In just 30 secs of the first round, Blaydes went in for a takedown, but Willis defended it first until Blaydes got it with his relentless pressure. Blaydes continued to rinse and repeat a Willis tried to stand up. In the second round, Blaydes landed a massive right hand that sent Willis staggering. This fight pace continued in the third round too as Blaydes was unfazed with Willis’ striking.
Anthony Pettis defeated Stephen Thompson via KO in Round 2
Pettis made a big statement with his welterweight debut against the former title challenger Thompson. The first round was a slow starter but in the favour of Thompson who controlled the fight with his range and kicks. Thompson landed some clean shots that saw Pettis bleed and in difficult situation. The pace continued in the second round but in an unexpected turn of events, Pettis pulled off a superman punch just when he was being backed up to the cage and landed flush on the chin. The punch was so hard that Thompson dropped right away. Pettis is now back on the win column while Thompson has now lost two in a row.
