The co-main event saw a major upset as welterweight Randy Brown stopped Brian with a flurry of perfectly timed body shots. Brown was previously knocked out 11 months ago by Niko Price and was determined to get his hand raised. Brown came in with a height advantage which he made good use of by out striking the UFC veteran before he landed the major blow that put Brian on the mat at 2:54 secs of the second round. Brian used leg kicks to stop Brown’s momentum but the Dana White Contender Series vet showed resilience and continued with his game plan. A big win for Brown who despite his grandmother’s death last tuesday continued to fight and dedicate the win to her. Brown is now 5-3 inside the octagon while Barbarena suffered his second consecutive stoppage loss. Barbarena is 1-3 in his past four outings.
