For five rounds, Valentina Shevchenko took Liz Carmouche from pole-to-pole and dominated her on the feet with her striking. But the overall fight was not a great performance by the champion who initially looked cautious and took her time to engage. Valentina tied up to the most wins in her division as she out pointed Carmouche for the entire 25 minutes.Carmouche barely landed any significant strikes on Shevchenko and for the most part was happy to play defense on the outside to avoid taking any damage. In the third round, Shevchenko pushed forward with a quick combo and put Carmouche down on the ground. The momentum was in the favour of Shevchenko and she began to open up with her offense in the final round. With less than a minute remaining Shevchenko uncorked a beautiful spinning back fist that stunned Carmouche. The final round played out the same way with Shevchenko pressing forward, mixing up combos and take downs. With this victory, Shevchenko continues her reign of terror at 125 pounds.
