The main event saw the light heavyweight debut of Ronaldo Souza get spoiled by the Polish Powerhouse Jan Blachowicz. Though the fight did not live up to the expectations, it did good for Jan who is now high on two fight win streak. Souza failed to apply any offense for the entire five rounds and to make matters worse, his take downs and clinch were met with resistance. Jan tried to keep the fight in his control using his jab and short strikes while he avoided any attempts to get taken down. While attempting leg kicks, Jan ended up injuring his left foot which began giving him problems later in the rounds. With such lackluster performance from Jan’s end, it is highly unlikely that he would be fighting for the light heavyweight title.
With this victory, Jan now has two back to back wins since his loss KO to Thiago Santos in February. Souza on the other hand has two straight losses. His move to 205 pounds didnt come to fruition and it remains to be seen what his next move comes to be.
