UFC FIGHT NIGHT 204: Alexander Volkov vs Tom Aspinall Preview

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 204 event headlined by the heavyweight matchup between Alexander Volkov vs Tom Aspinall will take place on March 19, 2022, at The O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom. Aspinall was originally expected to face Shamil Abdurakhimov, but after he was pulled in favour of the main event spot, Abdurakhimov was rescheduled against Sergei Pavlovich. In the co-main event of the card, the rising featherweight contender Arnold Allen will be going toe-to-toe against lightweight fighter Dan Hooker who will be making his return to the featherweight division. Also on the card, the British sensation Paddy Pimblet will be fighting Rodrigo Vargas in a lightweight matchup.

Tom Aspinall is the no.7 ranked UFC heavyweight fighter. He was scheduled to face Shamil Abdurakhimov at this same event but out of nowhere Shamil has pulled out this card and is put up against Sergei Pavlovich. Now Tom Aspinall will be facing Alexander Volkov on this same card. Alexander is the no.6 ranked heavyweight at the moment.

This fight will be a great opportunity for both the fighters to get a dominant win and secure a higher rank in the division. The UFC Heavyweight division at the moment is pretty stagnant at the moment. Alexander Volkov last faced Marcin Tybura on October 30, 2021, at UFC 267. He won the bout via unanimous decision. Aspinall was expected to face Sergei Pavlovich on September 4, 2021, at UFC Fight Night 191. However, Pavlovich was removed from the card and was replaced by Sergey Spivak. Aspinall won the fight via technical knockout in round one.

In the co-main event of the UFC card, Arnold Allen will be welcoming back Dan Hooker back to the featherweight division. Allen will be entering this fight while riding a 10-fight winning streak while Dan is coming off a loss against Islam Makhachev.
