Darren Till | UFC

Darren Till is currently the no.7 ranked middleweight fighter. He decided to move up to the middleweight division considering the brutal weight cut he had to got through during his welterweight reign. The 170 pound was definitely not his natural weight class but he debuted in that division as he joined the UFC roster. He challenged Tyron Woodley for the welterweight championship after defeating Cerrone and Thompson.

The fight with Woodley was a wake-up call for him as he got destroyed by Woodley. He was badly hurt by Tyron and then he was submitted in the second round of that fight. Till then faced Masvidal in his hometown. He was brutally knocked out by Masvidal in the second round of the fight.

Darren then announced that he would move to the middleweight division and then faced Kelvin Gastelum in his first middleweight bout. the fight wasn’t as appealing as promised but Darren secured a decision win. He then faced Robert Whittaker and lost the fight via unanimous decision. Now though he is actively participating in the middleweight division, he still feels like he has what it takes to defeat the current 170 pounds champ, Usman.

“I could probably still make welterweight. I know Kamaru Usman wants to fight me, I know he’s said that. He said ‘I still want to fight Till’, and we’ve got a little bit of history,” Till said to ESPN. “It’s him and Leon (Edwards) destined to fight. Leon gonna take that title, but why can’t I go down for one last hurrah and see if I can’t grab that strap I was meant to have.”

Darren recently also expressed his intention to fight the middleweight champion soon. He said he is ready to do whatever it takes to become the UFC champion.

“I will take 20 losses, I will take 55 losses, I will take injury after injury after injury to get where I want to be,” Till said. “It’s good to see guys like Charles Oliveira, Jan Blachowicz … it’s good to see them types of guys do the things that they’re doing. Charles lost to [Donald] ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, and now he’s the champion. … I am prepared to do whatever it takes with me and my team.”

Darren Till is now preparing to face UFC middleweight contender Derek Brunson in UFC Vegas 36 main-event.
