With considerable height disadvantage Waterson looked timid in the opening round and hesitant to engage. Casey looked confident and kept on moving forward landing a solid punch that stumbled Waterson. But as the round progressed, Waterson began to open up and mixed her striking with her wrestling taking down Casey with ease. With each takedown from Waterson, Casey attempted a submission. Waterson was able to make the adjustments and tripped Casey when she was pinned to the cage. Using her trademark front kick and roundhouse kick she put Casey in trouble. In the final moments of the 3rd round Casey was almost close enough to tap out Waterson, but she was saved by the bell.
