UFC veteran Frankie Edgar wants a title shot next. Edgar, who was set to fight for the title against Max Holloway a couple of months back, had to fight Brian Ortega instead as Holloway was forced to pull out due to an injury.

The dance will Ortega, however, did not end well for Edgar as he suffered the first knockout stoppage defeat in his career. This, in turn, made Ortega the number one contender for Holloway’s title but Edgar managed to come back strong by securing a unanimous decision victory over Cub Swanson recently.

The win against Swanson has once again put Edgar in touching distance of a title shot.

“I still think I’m the guy. S**t, I risked that shot, maybe I shouldn’t have like people said, but I’m going to do it every single time. I still believe I can win that fight (with Ortega). I was doing well in that fight, obviously I got caught and Ortega did a good job of finishing. But yeah, I want the winner. I think I deserve it. I’m No. 3. We’ll see what happens.” Edgar told while appearing on the MMA Hour.

The reason why he chose the Cub Swanson fight

Edgar also went on to add that he chose the Cub Swanson fight so quickly as he wanted to get back in the title scene as soon as possible.

“Everything’s got to work out the right way, I guess. I did my part last Saturday, I’m glad, that’s why I jumped in quick because I want to be back knocking on this door and here I am knocking on this door. I think I’m the guy. Either one would be great as long as we get that title on the line, I’m all in. Of course, I’d like a chance at Ortega, but if Max wins, Max shows that he’s the man and I want to go beat the man.” He added.
