Edgar (23-6-1 MMA, 17-6-1 UFC) is coming of a dominating performance over highly ranked contender Cub Swanson in a quick turnaround fight in April.
The UFC featherweight title seems to be teasing Edgar. Edgar was given his title shot against current champ Max Holloway at UFC 218 in December last year. However, Edgar had to pull out of the fight due to an injury and was replaced by former champ José Aldo.
The duo were rescheduled to meet at UFC 222 in March. This time however, Holloway had to pull out of the fight and was replaced by Brian ‘T-City’ Ortega. Edgar could have opted to just wait until champ Holloway is recovered however he accepted the fight to put up a show for the fans. His decision backfired as Ortega knocked out Edgar in the first round to become the first fighter ever to submit him. Edgar thus lost his title shot.
Korean Zombie on the other hand made his anticipated return after four years in February 2017 against staple Dennis Bermudez. He was coming back from his mandatory military service for his country of South Korea. Before that he suffered a shoulder injury in his title fight against José Aldo back in August 2013. Against all the odds of ring rust, he knocked out Bermudez in the first round.
