UFC: Georges St-Pierre says he ‘would be interested’ in facing winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor

At the UFC’s 25th Anniversary Fall Press conference, President Dana White finally had the cat out of the bag as former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor will make his much anticipated return to take on current UFC lightweight champion Khabib ‘The Eagle’ Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 on October 6.

However another double champ looking to make his return is former welterweight and middleweight champion Georges ‘Rush’ St-Pierre.

St-Pierre has his eyes on the winner of the fight between Nurmagomedov and McGregor. St-Pierre although has never made the lightweight limit of 155 pounds, but is willing to take that route. Although he does understand the fact that it would be difficult for him to get this fight.

“I would be interested in that fight,” St-Pierre told Submission Radio on Monday. “That’s a win-win situation. It’s a legacy upgrade and it’s good money, it’s going to be a good fight. However, I fought at 170 [pounds] and I relinquish the title, I fought at 185 and I relinquished the title, I don’t think the UFC will let me fight for the title at 155.

“They will be afraid I will relinquish and I left the division in ruins.”
