UFC: Henry Cejudo’s manager Ali Abdelaziz teases second Demetrious Johnson fight in 2018

UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson isn’t fighting TJ Dillashaw but instead rematching Henry Cejudo later this year, at least according to the fighter’s manager Ali Abdelaziz.

Cejudo and Johnson already fought once at UFC 197, with the Champion earning a first-round TKO victory with a knee to the liver that felled the challenger.

Since then, Demetrious Johnson has continued his win streak to break Anderson Silva’s record of 10 consecutive Title defences and is poised, by all accounts, for a super fight against bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw at International Fight Week in July.

Cejudo, on the other hand, dropped a controversial split decision loss to Joseph Benavidez before stringing together two back to back victories against Wilson Reis and rising contender Sergio Pettis.

And while the MMA world is clamouring for a super fight between Demetrious Johnson and TJ Dillashaw, it would seem that Henry Cejudo’s manager Ali Abdelaziz is attempting to get his client another shot at the Flyweight Champion.

Understandably, MMA fans weren’t totally on board with the idea since they were of the mind to see the TJ vs DJ super fight that has been teased for some time now.

However, from a rankings stand point, it does make sense for the number 2 ranked Henry Cejudo to get the next shot at Demetrious Johnson as the number 1 ranked contender, Joseph Benavidez, has already lost twice to the Champion.

Demetrious Johnson, for his part, has also been embroiled in a drawn out contract negotiation with the UFC for his next fight. The Champion is said to be perfectly willing to turn down the TJ Dillashaw fight in the event the UFC doesn’t pay him what he asks for, in which case, a second fight with Henry Cejudo would make sense.

Does this Tweet from Henry’s manager Ali Abdelaziz indicate something along those lines?
