Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly ‘the Preacher’s Daughter’ Holm (11-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) takes on former Invicta FC women’s featherweight champion Megan Anderson (8-2 MMA) at UFC 225 on June 9, 2018.

Going into this bout against a debutant yet resilient Anderson remarks a road towards redemption for Holm. She is definitely not the same Holly Holm that had a 9-0 record and went against undoubtedly one of greatest woman MMA fighter of all time in Ronda Rousey, not only defeating her but brutally knocking her out via a vicious head kick. After, becoming the UFC champion, Holm has struggled to find the similar results.

Overall in the UFC Holm holds a mediocre record of 4-4 which is surely not a reflection of the potential she has. Holm has lost four of her last five fights and has had a rough patch as of late.

Holm in her recent chat with KRQE said, “I know i got four losses out of the last five fights. I like to always be honest with myself so that I don’t make excuses. a lot of those fights I could have done more to make them victories so that’s what I want to do. I pretty much do feel make or break. I feel like that with every fight in a way because I want that for myself. I want victory that bad. So yes it is make or break, whether it be for how other people see me or just for myself. I want to do this for me.”

Holm lost her title in her first title defense against Miesha Tate at UFC 196 in March 2016. Holm was dominating the fight using her reach advantage until fifth round. Tate however was successful in wrapping a rear-naked choke handing Holm the first loss of her career. Holm then took on former UFC women’s bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko in July 2016. Despite having reach and size advantage, Shevchenko caused a huge upset out striking the former champ. Holly then took on Germaine de Randamie at UFC 208 in February 2017 for the inaugural women’s featherweight champion. Holm suffered a controversial decision loss. De Randamie punched Holm twice after the bell rang, still there was no point deduction. Holm then fought former title challenger Bethe Correia in June 2017. Holm won the fight via a small modification of her head kick knows as the question mark kick.

Holm then got the shot at UFC women’s featherweight belt twice. However against was the most dominating female fighter in the history of the sport in Cris Cyborg. Holm los the fight via unanimous decision.

Anderson is riding a 4-fight winning as well as finishing streak. Holm would definitely like to snap this streak. According to a rumour, the winner of this bout will coach TUF season 29 alongside Cris Cyborg.
