Middleweight division staple and #6 ranked contender Derek Brunson (18-6 MMA, 9-4 UFC) is preparing for probably one of the most important fights of his career as he takes on undefeated prospect #9 ranked Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya (14-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) at UFC 230 on November 3.

The hurricane took everything from Derek Brunson…but not his warrior spirit!

However last week, an unexpected hurdle came his way which forced him to keep his training on hold, the storm Hurricane Florence. (via Twitter):

Hurricane Florence was a powerful and long-lived hurricane that caused severe and extensive damage in Brunson’s home state of North Carolina earlier in September, primarily as a result of freshwater flooding. The other areas affected were South Carolina, parts of Africa and Canada.

The hurricane however had no effect whatsoever on Brunson’s training. Brunson will have to deliver a hurricane like performance to hand Adesanya the first loss of his career.

Brunson has always lost pivotal matchups which has kept him away from title contention. Brunson is coming of a first round knockout loss against #5 ranked Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza in January. He would like to get the ‘W’ and get things back on track.
