Edson Barboza is the epitome of pure technical striking in MMA. He holds a black-belt in Taekwondo, a black-prajied in Muay Thai and a professional Muay Thai kickboxing record of 22-3. Barboza is particularly known around the world of combat sports for his ferocious kicks, he has ended fights inside the octagon with leg-kicks alone. However, Barboza’s arguably greatest knockout ever in an MMA cage came against Terry Etim at UFC 142 when he became the first man in UFC history to knock someone out with a wheel kick. He again executed a similar wheel kick in his most recent fight against Kevin Lee.
The Wheel Kick is arguably one of the most beautiful and poetic ways of knocking someone out. While it is aesthetically pleasing, it is also highly difficult to execute and only master striker like Barboza are able to perfectly land the wheel kick. However, it is often said that talent can shine even from a very young age. One prime example of this was recently found as a little Indian girl perfectly executed the wheel kick in a tournament to knock her opponent out.
In the video, the little girl can be seen patiently waiting for her opponent to aggressively charge forward as she counters her by connecting with a jumping wheel kick right to her opponent’s jaw.
Below is the video of the little girl executing the wheel kick KO:
