Last weekend at Bellator 204 featured a heavy upset as per the odds as debutant Ricky Bandejas (climbed to 11-1) smashed highly hyped James Gallagher (fell to 7-1) via first round TKO.
Gallagher, a training partner of double champ Conor McGregor, seemed to have picked up a page of his book. Gallagher started talking trash leading upto the fight and had a heated staredown with Bandejas a minute before the fight started. However after a minute, Gallagher was handed his first loss.
Gallagher is now determined to learn from his loss and for that he is drawing inspiration from Conor McGregor, the way he rebounded from his loss again Nate Diaz at UFC 196.
“I can see the way he handled that and I took like inspiration from that, but this is how I’ve been brought up by my mother and father — you don’t run away from anything,” he said. “If I say I’m the greatest ever and I get beat, then that’s a big fall, but I’m not scared of that. So I take it all in. I take it on the chin and move on.”
