A lightweight slugfest is headed our way as #11 ranked James ‘The Texecutioner’ Vick (13-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) takes on former WSOF champ and #7 ranked Justin ‘The Highlight’ Gaethje (18-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) at Fight Night Lincoln on August 25.

Gaethje started his UFC career in an impressive fashion with a win over a tuff Michael Johnson in a ‘Fight of the Year’ named fight. However with losses in his next two fights against Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier, Gaethje finds his back against the wall.

Gaethje endures a lot of damage in his fights, which has finally forced him to use a trick which is already in his sleeve, Wrestling. Gaethje himself claimed in an interview that he is ready to add wrestling in his fight. Gaethje being an NCAA Division I All-American, has the credentials to apply it in his fights. He never did so as it was contradictory to his crazy throwdown style. However in an interview with BJPenn.com, Vick said he’s not worried about this possibility.

“I mean, if he tries to wrestle me, I don’t understand what he’s gonna get out of it,” Vick says. “He has no gas tank. Every time he wrestles, he gasses. He’s openly said that. That’s not in my words, that’s [in] his. He’s the one who said that. Also, he has no submission threats. He has no ground and pound threat.

“What’s the point of shooting on me three or four times in one round and gassing himself out when he can’t do anything to me on the ground? He has no fucking threats.” Vick said. “He might get caught and submitted anyway, and if not I’ll get to my feet and can’t nobody, and hasn’t nobody, held me down my whole fighting career. So I’ll get up, or I’ll catch his neck, or I’ll knock him out. But I really don’t see his ground game as a threat at all.”
