A stacked card all the way, UFC 225, met an unfortunate hurdle as the contender for the middleweight belt in the main event, Yoel Romero, missed weight by a margin of 2 pounds. Illionois state athletic commission, however gave him an hour to make weight, following which the scale showed 185.2 pounds. The 0.2 pounds extra would prevent the fight from being for the title, provided it does take place. Seeing this as an opportunity, former welterweight turned middleweight Kelvin Gastelum offered to step in for the fight.

Gastelum is currently on a two fight win streak defeating former Middleweight champion Michael Bisping and Jacare Souza.

This is the first time in UFC history that a fighter has missed weight on two consecutive championship bouts. Romero earlier missed weight when he was brought in as a replacement for Robert Whittaker against Luke Rockhold. Not to forget that all this is happening amidst Dana White planning to scrap the early morning weigh-ins.
However Dana White has confirmed that the fight will take place, but instead it will be a non title fight.
