The new and undisputed UFC Lightweight Champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov discussed his future after his win over Al Iaquinta at UFC 223. Khabib Nurmagomedov has a huge fan following in his native country of Russia and with the UFC possibly visiting his home, Khabib is very much interested in appearing on that fight card. It depends though on whether the card is a Pay per view event or a UFC Fight Night.

“One hundred percent, if UFC come to Russia, and they make pay-per-view show, I want to fight there. Why not?” Nurmagomedov said. “I have belt. If UFC ask me, ‘Hey, let’s go. You have to fight in September,’ because Ramadan is finished June 15. I have two weeks in June, July, August, and two weeks in September. I have time. I have almost 100 days after Ramadan. Of course, I am going to take this. If UFC going to make, like, UFC Fight Night or something like this in Russia, of course UFC never put me there because they want to put me in big pay-per-view show,” Nurmagomedov said.

Khabib talks about his upcoming plans

Khabib’s thoughts about fighting Conor

UFC 223 showcased the rivalry between Conor Mcgregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov after Khabib slapped Conor’s training partner Artem Lobov and Conor retaliated with attacking Khabib’s bus which resulted in cancellation of three fights including that of Artem. After Khabib’s title win, this fight has quickly become one of the most anticipated fights for fans.

“We have to finish these things, this beef—maybe chicken. Let’s talk about chicken,” Nurmagomedov said. “He have to stop eating Burger Kings and come back here. Too much Burger Kings. You want to fight with me? Come here. I’m here. My last three months, I fight twice. I fight this Barboza. I fight this Iaquinta. Iaquinta is tough kid. Barboza is tough kid. I’m here.

“Now, UFC have only one champion, real, undisputed, and undefeated. Let’s go.”

On the Georges St Pierre fight

In his post fight interview, Khabib also called out Georges St Pierre and invited him to challenge for the Lightweight strap in Madison Square Garden in November, calling it his father’s wish. He also acknowledged the fact the whether it may be Conor or GSP, the fight will do high pay per view numbers.

“Conor  is very big name,” Nurmagomedov said. “It’s going to be big pay-per-view show, like two, three million pay-per-view buys. Why not if Georges St-Pierre don’t come to 155?”
