Leon Edwards played spoiler for Donald Cerrone’s expected celebration in Singapore for a win which would have singled him out for the most wins in the UFC. The British born fighter picked up a unanimous decision victory over Cerrone denying him his 21st UFC win.
The two had went back and forth at the media promotions in the build up of the fight with Edwards criticising Cerrone’s journeyman approach to fighting and questioned whether the ageing fighter still had the will to fight. The criticism didn’t sit very well with Cerrone who himself criticised Edwards’ attitude.

However, after the fight, Edwards was all praise for his UFC Singapore foe. At the post fight presser, he said that he’d only talked about Cerrone being old and Cerrone took it personal. Even after the win, Edwards was critical of his performance saying that he should have finished the fight but at the same time he was happy to prove to the people that he had the required cardio to go full five rounds.
In the post fight interview in the Octagon, when Edwards was asked about who he wanted to fight next ,he already had another veteran in mind – Jorge Masvidal. He’s hoping that he can be Jorge’s next dancing partner and welcomed “Gambered” to his stomping grounds in Birmingham, England.
