UFC 226 featured a super fight wherein light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier pulled out a huge upset and knocked out heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic to become the fifth fighter to hold belts in two weight classes and only the second the hold them simultaneously.
Before the fight started, former UFC champ Brock Lesnar entered the arena to catch the action which gave a sign of him probably fighting the winner of this bout.
After the fight Cormier called out Lesnar to step inside the octagon to face him off. Lesnar entered the octagon and shoved Cormier, which created some tension among Cormier’s team which included his coaches, family and friends.
Also standing alongside was Cormier’s training partner, former UFC middleweight champ, Luke Rockhold. Rockhold in a recent interview with Submission Radio revealed that he almost entered the brawl.
“I was trying to judge the situation because I was about to pull a Diaz brother and jump on his back and kick Brock in the head,” Rockhold said. “I saw Brock enter the arena as we were getting staged and ready for DC, so I knew something was up.”
“I was trying to judge Brock, I was trying to judge Brock,” he continued. “Brock was coming in hot and pushing DC but DC kept his composure and he was trying to laugh it off, so… (laughs) I’m not a big fan of Brock and his style, so I wouldn’t mind taking a leg home.”
