UFC 222 was one of the most exciting pay-per-view’s of the year so far. It was initially supposed to be headlined by a fight between the UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway and the veteran Frankie Edgar. However, Holloway had to pull out and Edgar instead put up his title shot on the line against the young, up and comer, Brian Ortega. Ortega shocked the world and knocked-out the man with an iron chin, Edgar. Such a dominant victory has cemented Ortega’s position as the next challenger for Holloway’s title. The UFC president Dana White later confirmed in the UFC 222 post-fight conference that a fight between Holloway and Ortega will soon be booked.

“T-City” is a young twenty-seven year old fighter with a MMA record of 14-0 and is currently on a seven fight win streak inside the octagon. He took the bout against Edgar at a really short notice and was an underdog going into the fight. However, he shocked the world by not just defeating Edgar but by knocking him out.

The UFC President was asked about the featherweight title situation at UFC 222’s post fight press conference. He had a lot of praise for Ortega and revealed that a title fight between him and Holloway will be booked as soon as the champion can be cleared to compete. Here’s what he had to say:
“The fact we now have a title fight with him against Holloway, you know, Holloway looked incredible against Jose Aldo in his last fight and I’m excited about this, The guy is so incredible and well-rounded, You’d think when he goes in and fights Frankie Edgar you’d bet anything he’s going to sub him if he’s going to win. And then he goes and knocks him out in the first round. This kid is super talented, has incredible personality.
I just saw [Holloway], he came on The Ultimate Fighter as one of the coaches, He looks good, he’s walking good and, I don’t know, we gotta see what his doctor said and when he’s cleared, we’ll make that fight immediately.”
