UFC Featherweight champion Max Holloway is set to defend his title against Brian Ortega at UFC 226 in the first week of July.

One of the most anticipated fights in the division, it is bound to be the biggest test for Holloway’s title reign to date. Speaking about the fight in a recent interview, Holloway noted that he cannot afford to slip up against Ortega.
“Back in the day, they used to fight to the death, and that’s what he fights for. He pretty much fights to the death. He fights for the finish. He’s dangerous all the time, he’s dangerous all rounds, so I’ve got to step up my game. I’ve got to be extra focused. He’s fought great competition, but now it’s time to fight the best, and the best is ‘Blessed,” Holloway told MMA Junkie.
Holloway also went on to note that despite the ‘superfight’ tag, Ortega will be like any other opponent for him.
“They’re calling it a super fight for a reason, and they’re not only talking about the main event (between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier). But at the end of the day, Brian’s just another cupcake – but a different flavor, and I like horchata,” Holloway noted.
Apart from the fight between Holloway and Ortega, UFC 226 will also have a Heavyweight title showdown between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier.
