A featherweight showdown is headed to Nebraska as former lightweight contender Michael ‘The Menace’ Johnson (17-13 MMA, 9-9 UFC) takes on Team Alpha male prospect Andre ‘Touchy’ Fili (18-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) on August 25.
The bout would be of utmost importance for Johnson as he is on a three-fight losing streak. Even though Johnson has faced serious competition over the years in the lightweight division, he has been criticized for not fighting upto his potential. Dropping to 9-8 in the lightweight division, Johnson made a drop to the featherweight division back in January.
He faced another Team Alpha male fighter in Darren ‘Damage’ Elkins at Fight Night 124. Johnson did good in the first round tagging Elkins, however in the second round his long time weakness which is his grappling was again exposed as Elkins won the bout via rear-naked choke.
Fili on the other hand is on a two-fight winning streak against Artem Lobov and veteran Dennis Bermudez.
The card is now headlined by #7 ranked lightweight contender Justin Gaethje and #11 ranked James Vick.
