Michelle Waterson picked up a huge win at UFC on Fox 29 by defeating Cortney Casey-Sanchez and ended her two-fight skid in the UFC. And now, the Strawweight star is hoping to get a fight with former title contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
Waterson revealed the same during her appearance on the Slip n’ Dip Podcast this week.
“I’ve not [fought Karolina yet], you must be reading my mind. I think that would be a great fight. I’m looking also forward to seeing that fight between Claudia [Gadelha] and Carla [Esparza] because they got some history between the two of them.” She said. (H/T MMA Nytt)
Apart from her desire to fight Karolina, Waterson also opened up about her retirement plans during the appearance.
“It makes a big difference because as a male fighter, you can continue to have a family because it’s the wife that carries the baby. My daughter is seven and I do want more children, but I also have to take advantage of the time that I have right now. I feel like there’s so much that I haven’t shown the world what I can do and I want to get those out. I want to be able to leave the sport knowing that I left it all in the Octagon. I have been fighting for a very long time though, over eleven years, so I’m probably going to give myself another three or four years.” She added.
Currently holding a professional record of 15-6 to her name, Waterson had suffered losses to Tecia Torres and Rose Namajunas prior to her win against Sanchez. Meanwhile, Karolina is currently on a two-fight winning streak after defeating Felice Herrig and Jodie Esquibel.
Karolina is currently 12-2 in her career with her losses coming against Claudia Gadelha and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
