MMA legend and former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda ‘Rowdy’ Rousey first conquered the sport of MMA by winning the UFC gold and topping it off by five consecutive title defenses.
After her only two setbacks, Rousey decided to extend her territory to the Pro Wrestling World officially signing with the WWE in a special named ‘Elimination Chamber’ in February 2018. She then made her much anticipated pro wrestling debut at the organisation’s most important event in Wrestlemania. She had the pro wrestling community by storm not only with her fighting moves but also with her skills on the mic.
Rousey was always known for her brash personality while promoting herself leading up to her fights. In a recent interview Rousey stated that hearing her speech is a privilege and a privilege that has been abused. During a recent interview to promote her upcoming movie Mile 22 saying, “Why should I talk? I believe hearing me speak is a privilege, and it’s a privilege that’s been abused, so why not revoke it from everyone?”
“We live in an age of trial by Twitter, is really gained by stating opinion on anything? It whittles people down. It gets cut and pasted 10 times and it’s in [a] headline.”
Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and arch rival Miesha ‘Cupcake’ Tate who was the victim of Rousey’s trademark armbar twice, is now retired and works as an analyst on UFC tonight had some words for Rousey.
“People are gonna say I’m being a hater but I’m gonna be honest, I think it’s a bit ridiculous and I think it’s very above herself kind of attitude”, Tate said. This is where we butt heads. This is the point where we don’t agree. Sometimes Ronda will say something that’s humble and I’ll be like, ‘Hey, that’s a great comment.’ This is asinine.”
“I think this is not the kind of attitude that you should have when you’re someone who is in the position of Ronda. Ronda’s very fortunate. Granted, she’s worked very hard, but there’s a lot of people that work really, really hard and don’t get to that point of stardom or financial benefit or whatever it is. It’s a combined effort. To say ‘it’s a privilege to hear me speak’ is just sounds rude and full of herself. She really sounds full of herself.”
