CM Punk is set to have his second fight in the UFC at UFC 225 in Chicago. The former WWE champion will be going up against Mike Jackson at the event and interestingly, the fight will take place in front of Punk’s home crowd.

Punk’s debut in the UFC came back at UFC 203 where he suffered a submission defeat to Mickey Gall. As for Punk’s opponent Mike Jackson, he is also coming into the fight at UFC 225 on the back of a defeat against Gall.
Jackson fought Gall back at UFC Fight Night 82 and suffered a first-round submission loss. Despite this defeat, Jackson is full of confidence when it comes to his fight with the former professional wrestler.
While appearing on the MMA Hour this week, Jackson revealed that he is planning to avoid a submission win against Punk when they lock horns inside the cage and in turn, indicating a knockout.
“I’m not going in there to submit him. I’m not going in there to choke him out. I have no animosity or ill will towards Phil. For me, again, he called me a can. It wasn’t like it was someone of stature calling me a can, I can laugh it off, OK whatever. Again, he has never been in a fight. He has never been in a fight before the Gall fight, an actual unscripted fight. For someone like that to call me a can, I take that as disrespect. That’s like me deciding one day I want to be a wrestler and I walk into Vince McMahon’s office and I’m like, ‘Alright, I want to go wrestle Brock Lesnar for the belt and I want you to put me over.’ I wouldn’t do that. I would have to pay my dues and work my way up.” Jackson said. (H/T MMA Fighting)
It does not make a difference
Even though both the fighters lost to Gall, it was CM Punk that lasted longer against the youngster. And Jackson went on to nullify the same by saying it barely makes a difference.
“As far as lasting longer, I mean look at his face and look at my face. He’s the one who took more damage. So I mean, that’s inconsequential. It’s irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. But for me, I know I’m a better fighter, I’m gonna bring the bigger toolbox and he’s going night-night.” He added.
