Fight Night 139 features a barn burner as it’s co-main event as hometown hero Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone throws down against ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry on November 10 in Denver, Colorado.

Contrary to his earlier fights, Perry didn’t use much trash talk to promote this fight, as he himself said that Cowboy would give him a good fight and won’t take him down. However, the fight has been under the fire for dramatic reasons.

After suffering consecutive losses for the first time in his career, Perry shifted his camp from Florida to Jackson-Winkeljohn in Albuquerque, New Mexico to refine his skills. The camp however also served the training ground for Perry’s opponent Donald Cerrone. During the same time frame, Cerrone left his long time gym due to many altercations he faced inside the gym which obviously didn’t go well with few teammates like Diego Sanchez.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani on his show on ESPN, when asked about how he feels to be the center of the altercation, Perry claimed he would like to take the baton from Cowboy by ending his reign and make his own legacy.

“Hopefully I can be the one to end the Cowboy Cerrone reign, and I can take it over from here and restart it fresh like back when he first started … so grandma ain’t got to see him get beat up no more”, Perry said. (via Twitter):

Cowboy is certainly a fan favourite, he is known for his wild personality and winning streaks that gave him a lightweight title shot twice.
