The news took the MMA community by storm and fans were eagerly waiting for any confirmation from both the fighters especially from Stockton’s own Diaz who is known for his skills on the mic.

Diaz responded in his own trademark style. Diaz took a jab at GSP’s title defense back in 2013 against his brother Nick Diaz. Diaz claimed that St-Pierre was on steroids before he fought his brother Nick Diaz and the UFC was selling fans ‘wolf tickets’ about a potential UFC 227 showdown. (via Twitter):

Nate Diaz posted, “GSP cheated when he fought my brother he was on steroids he was overweight and they let him because we were in Montreal and his boy gave Nick a bad IV,” wrote Diaz. “Now they selling u wolf tickets on me GSP you can clear that shit up or fight yourself cheater.”

‘Wolf tickets’ was a term used by Nick Diaz. Both the brothers held the position that both that GSP was using steroids.

Diaz last fought at UFC 202 in a rematch against former lightweight champion Conor ‘the Notorious’ McGregor in August 2016. He lost the fight via majority decision.

St-Pierre made his long anticipated return at UFC 217 in November 2017 fighting in a class above against then champion Michael ‘the Count’ Bisping. Against the odds, St-Pierre won the fight via submission to become the only fourth fighter in the history of the sport to hold belts in two different weight classes after BJ Penn, Randy Couture and Conor McGregor.
