As reported by ESPN, Nate Diaz has asserted that Tyron Woodley is likely to be his next opponent.

Apparently, Diaz feels Woodley would be a great opponent for his comeback fight, as he looks to return to the Octagon after last competing at UFC 202 back in August of 2016.

Nate Diaz broke through as a major star in the world of MMA and combat sports as a whole after defeating box-office king and then-UFC Featherweight kingpin Conor McGregor, by submission at UFC 196 in early 2016.

Diaz faced McGregor in the rematch at UFC 202 and lost a close Majority Decision to the Notorious One.

While McGregor went on to win the UFC Lightweight Championship, vacate the UFC Featherweight strap, and rack up over $100 million dollars in a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr., Nate Diaz has been on the shelf ever since.

Nate Diaz—who refers to himself as the real UFC Lightweight Champion—opened up on returning to the Octagon this year, and fighting Woodley for the Welterweight belt—

“I’m getting to the point where I’m sick of not fighting. I’m not getting any younger…I put that tweet out saying I wanted to fight in May or June, but I didn’t say who because I was weighing my options. And now, Woodley is my best option.”

Nate added, “I’d like a good two or three-month camp…We’ll figure it out. There’s definitely going to be something. I’m trying to fight.”

UFC President Dana White is presently looking to book Tyron Woodley vs. Rafael Dos Anjos for the UFC Welterweight title in July of this year.

In fact, White went as far as emphasizing that Nate Diaz vs. Tyron Woodley is a fight that Nate previously turned down, hence is something the UFC is not interested in booking right now.
