The UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov had an extremely heated and bad blooded rivalry with the former champ champ Conor McGregor. Even after his victory over the Irishman, the bad blood and animosity between the two certainly did not stop. The Russian infamous manager Ali Abdelaziz has now added another spark to their already heated rivalry by sending out a very strong worded message to the Irishman.

The first fight between the heated arch rivals took place in October of 2018 in the main event of UFC 229. The Russian had an extremely dominating outing in that fight. He kept on taking McGregor down and put on a heavy beating on him eventually submitting him via neck crank in the fourth round.

Will fans ever get to see a rematch between Conor McGregor and Khabib?

Abdelaziz recently spoke to noted media outlet TMZ. He stated that McGregor can’t get a rematch yet and will first have to prove his mettle by beating better, tougher and higher ranked fighters like Justin Gaethje and Islam Mkhachev. Here’s what he had to say:

You can’t get a title fight beating a guy who is 36 years old coming off of a loss. If he wants to get a title shot, like Khabib said, he needs to start fighting guys like Gaethje or Islam Makhachev, this type of young guys, up-and-coming, who are coming off of wins. It was a good performance, he treated Cerrone the way he should have treated him. But of course not (he shouldn’t get a rematch). It was a huge fight, but at the end of the day, Khabib is all about principle. Conor can say whatever he wants. But my advice to Conor is, hey b*itch, go fight Justin Gaethje, get a win, and after that come back for a title shot.

McGregor got back to the win column after brutally knocking out Donald Cowboy Cerrone in the first few seconds of their main event fight at UFC 246. To his credit, Mystic Mac himself stated that he felt like he still needed a few more tune-up bouts to get back to his very best. Thus, McGregor himself might not take up a rematch against his greatest opponent in a hurry and could wait till he gets more recent Octagon experience that wears off his ring rust.
