With UFC bantamweight title fight likely to take place between Jose Aldo and Henry Cejudo, top bantamweight contender Aljamain Sterling wants to fight the #3 ranked Petr Yan next.

Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan

Aljamain sterling called out the hard-hitting Russian on Social media.

Dear @PetrYanUFC, What’s up bro? It’s been a while since our @UFCPI face-off. Are you busy at the end of April or May? I got an ass-whooping with your name on it! I’m not like @HenryCejudo, you don’t scare me… Every man bleeds. Sincerely Yours, Funk Daddy.”

Sterling is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over Pedro Munhoz and is currently riding on a four-fight winning streak. He has defeated the likes of Jimmie Rivera, Cody Stamann, Brett Johns prior to beating Munhoz.

It didn’t take long for Petr Yan to reply to Sterling.

Dear Aljo, we both know you will be the one who bleeds if we fight,” he said.

You ain’t hurting nobody with your point-scoring style. And yes I’m available in April or May and I never turned down the scrap #readyforanyone Regards, Siberian gangster.”

Aljamain Sterling fired back.

Dear Petr Yawn’s Manager, Tell your manager and get ya backpack. Ready sport! Let’s see who spills blood first my guy. Sincerely Yours, Tú Padre Puto.”

With Henry Cejudo showing no willingness to fight either Yan or Sterling and Dana White’s reluctance to make Cejudo vs Aldo. The best possible scenario for Yan and Sterling is to fight each other.

Petr Yan criticises Henry Cejudo for not wanting to fight him

While Aldo is without a doubt a legend in the sport, he hardly deserves a title shot coming off of a loss. Fighters like Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling have repeatedly asked UFC to give them a title shot.

Petr Yan is coming off of an incredible knockout win over Urijah Faber at UFC 245. He has fought six times in the UFC and has been undefeated so far inside the organisation.

“I lost all respect for Cejudo. He doesn’t want to defend his belt against a real number one contender,” Petr Yan said to BJPENN.com in an interview last month. “He wants to fight someone with zero wins in 135 division and on a two-fight losing streak, and far from the peak of his career. UFC shouldn’t support this behaviour if they want to keep any significance to that belt. Honestly, it will be bad for the sport.”

He is a triple clown who is trying to turn our sport into a circus. He knows I’m a terrible matchup for him,” he explained. “That’s why he is trying to avoid fighting me.”
