Amanda Nunes is likely set to face Raquel Pennington in her next Octagon outing.
As reported by Damon Martin, Nunes could fight Pennington at UFC 224, with the UFC 135-pound title on the line.
Amanda Nunes last defended her UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship against Valentina Shevchenko in a close fight, following which despite the judges awarding the Decision victory to Nunes, several fans & pundits opined that Shevchenko could’ve easily gotten the nod.
On the other hand, Raquel ‘Rocky’ Pennington is riding a 4-fight win-streak, and was primed to receive a shot at the Bantamweight title against Nunes, however, the former unfortunately got into an automobile accident in late-2017.
Pennington was on a hunting trip with her uncles and cousins, and riding an ATV on snowy terrain. However, the slippery surface caused the vehicle to turtle; resultantly hurting her leg, and almost smashing it completely. While her fight against Nunes fell through, fortunately, Pennington survived the accident without any major injuries/complications and is well on the road to recovery.
Fast-forward to 2018, and Amanda Nunes vs. Raquel Pennington is once again being considered by the UFC.

Here’s what Damon Martin revealed about Amanda Nunes vs. Raquel Pennington—
“Sources say Amanda Nunes vs. Raquel Pennington is being discussed currently…haven’t heard a date but I’d assume UFC 224 in Brazil would be a likely landing spot. #UFC”

Additionally, one ought to note that Nunes was initially set to fight UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg this year, however, as Cyborg stepped in to save the UFC 222 card by signing up to fight Yana Kunitskaya, ‘The Lioness’ is on the prowl for another opponent—
Jesus, I just want announced my fight. 😫

Furthermore, the vast majority of MMA experts believe that should Cyborg beat Kunitskaya at UFC 222 and Nunes defeat Pennington at UFC 224, Nunes vs. Cyborg could come to fruition at UFC 226.
As of this time, the UFC is yet to officially confirm Nunes vs. Pennington for UFC 224 in Brazil. The MMA India Show will keep fans updated on the same.
