With less than three weeks left for UFC 249, fans are unsure if the mega-fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will take place. With uncertainty rising around the fight card, Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley have thrown their hats in order to fight at UFC 249.
The card is supposed to take place on April 18, with the venue yet to be revealed. Initially, the fight was supposed to take place in Abu Dhabi and Khabib flew there but had to return after travel restrictions were imposed. Now with Russia also announcing travel restrictions amidst the coronavirus outbreak, the lightweight champion is stuck in Dagestan.
As the news broke out that the fight is almost certainly cancelled for the fifth time, many fighters publicly announced that they wanted to fight on the card. UFC reached out to Tony Ferguson about potentially fighting Gaethje. However, the big story was that Covington and Woodley agreeing to fight each other.

Im in such a giving mood I’ll even arrange a tour of the oval office for Tyrone, since Obama never did.” Covington posted on Twitter.
It didn’t take long for Woodley to reply and he almost immediately agreed to fight “Qweefington”.
“@ufc Me vs Qweefington April 18th unless Tony wanna roll back up to his Ultimate Fighter weight for the bag. WW bout won’t take no cheese out his LW macaroni.” Woodley tweeted.
Colby Covington previously agreed to step on short notice to fight Tyron Woodley after Leon Edwards pulled out of UFC Fight Night 171 which was scheduled to take place on March 21.
