Colby Covington and Dustin Poirier were seen beefing on social media for quite some time now. The beef came into the public eyes during UFC 242.

Following his fourth third-round submission loss at UFC 242, Poirier was asked about a future fight with Jorge Masvidal. Poirier quickly went on the offensive and stated that Jorge is a close friend and he would never sell-out like Covington.

It’s also important to note that all three of them train and the same gym. While Poirer and Covington have occasionally thrown shade at each other but Covington unloaded a series of attacks on Poirier recently on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.

“We can’t do anything at American Top Team. That’s a place of business. That’s a sanctuary. And we respect the rules of the American Top Team. We’ve decided to put the beefs aside when we walk into American Top Team. We keep it cool.”- Colby Covington

“I can’t say what’s gonna happen in the street. You’re probably gonna run from me and run home to Louisiana. We know he’s running from me in the octagon. He ain’t never gonna try and fight me in the octagon.”- Colby Covington

“That’s what makes the whole thing so stupid. He’s a little Lightweight wash-out and he’s trying to call out the greatest Welterweight of all time, me, myself. So the whole thing from the start is just fake news. It makes no sense. The guy needs to stay in his lane, understand his role. Just know your role b***h. I’m at the top of the mountain and I’m what’s saving the UFC.”- Colby Covington

Colby Covington apologizes to Dustin Poirier

Soon after a scathing attack at Dustin Poirier, the former interim welterweight champion was quick to offer an apology on Submission Radio.

I broke a promise to Dan Lambert, I really do feel bad and I feel ashamed,” he said. “And I kinda lost my cool. I was spitting fire on the world and I was so hyped up about the [Tyron] Woodley fight that I kinda went off on Dustin.

I’m sorry Dustin, you’re still my friend. We can still be friends. I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings in saying some words in the past. Business goes back to usual at American Top Team. I want to have a civil gym, I don’t want there to be drama.

If any of these guys want to fight me, you know where you can find me. We can fight for a lot of money in the Octagon. Why aren’t these guys talking about fighting me in the Octagon? They’re just talking about fighting me in the street.” ( H/T – SCMP)
