Conor McGregor made his boxing debut in 2017 against Floyd Mayweather at the T-Mobile Arena. Before the fight was announced, the fans didn’t believe that the fight would ever come into fruition.

At that time, Conor McGregor was still signed with UFC. The promotion didn’t allow its fighter to compete in other organisation nor sport. However, the UFC and Mayweather promotions made the fight and McGregor lost the fight via TKO in the tenth round.

Since that boxing match, the Irishmen was very inactive inside the Octagon. Recently he made his Octagon return after a fifteen-month hiatus where he knocked out Donald Cerrone in just 40-seconds.

With McGregor aiming to be highly active in 2020, he still has his eyes set on the Boxing ring., where he hopes to compete for the world title.

He’s serious about boxing,” Audie Attar, manager of Conor McGregor said in an interview with MMA Fighting. “He said it. That’s something that I can tell you, if he says something he has interest in, it’s likely going to happen.”

The likes of Manny Pacquiao have called out Conor McGregor for a potential boxing match. Even Bob Arum, who promotes Terence Crawford has talked about having the Omaha born fighter to take on McGregor. Attar said that they’re keeping an eye on every potential offer.

We definitely monitor everything,” Attar said. “We monitor not only fan engagement and interest from the public but then you look at who’s out there talking what. Because it could be where we have a few different options to weigh and decide on.

At the end of the day, I saw Floyd, I saw Manny and now Bob Arum, who at one point said, ‘It’s not a smart idea to crossover.’ He’s a believer now as well.” (H/T – MMA Fighting)

Conor McGregor called out Floyd Mayweather for a rematch

The first fight between McGregor and Mayweather did tremendous business as it sold around 4.3 Million PPV buys and generated over $55 Million at the gate.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani during an exclusive interview earlier this month, McGregor expressed his interests regarding the fight.

I’d like to rematch Floyd. I think we should rematch Floyd. I mean, he’s flirting with it, and they want all this. And he can go and pick someone else. It’s not gonna be the same. It’s not. I’ve done phenomenal in that bout.

I know I’d beat Floyd, I’d beat Floyd if we rematch when we rematch. He’s not gonna do a mixed martial arts bout like he said. It was supposed to be me boxing, and then we’ll do a mixed martial arts bout. That was what was said. And it came out of his mouth as well, and it was not written, but it was a verbal agreement. And obviously, that’s not gonna happen. I’m not going to push him on that, either. But I would like to box him. I think that would be a good rematch.

You never know,” McGregor concluded. (H/T – Complex)
