Former UFC welterweight Dan Hardy hasn’t stepped inside the Octagon in nearly eight years. However, over the past couple of months, he has expressed interest in returning back to the cage.

Dan Hardy competed in the welterweight division and is riding on a two-fight winning streak. His last fight took place in 2012 at UFC on Fuel TV 5 on the undercard of Miocic vs Struve. He fought Amir Sadollah and defeated him via unanimous decision. Before that, he defeated Duane Ludwig via KO in the first round thus ending his four-fight losing streak.

The 37-year-old had to cut his career short after he was diagnosed with Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome. However, that hasn’t stopped him from thinking about his comeback.

Dan Hardy wants to fight Donald Cerrone next

In a recent, “In Quarantine With…” podcast, Dan Hardy stated that a fight would Donald Cerrone would interest him. He said that it would be a fun fight for both the fighters.

I think Cowboy would be a great matchup for me. He’s a veteran,” Hardy said on the podcast.

The reality is he’s at the end of his career. That’s four losses in a row. I’ve been there myself. And I’m not saying that he can’t turn it around and pick up a couple of wins and stuff. But he’s far enough away from a title shot now to just kind of pick and choose and have fun fights that make sense to him. And I think I make sense, I think it’d be a fun fight,” Hardy continued.

He’s had a lot of fights since the last time I’ve fought, he’s got a lot of experience, he’s also taken a lot of wear and tear. I feel like I know his game very well because I’ve watched his fights over and over again. I just think it’d be a fun one. Maybe (the) loser leaves town. Maybe we’d fight for pink slips. Loser retires.” (H/T – BJPenn.com)

Donald Cerrone is currently riding on a four-fight losing streak. His last fight took place last weekend at UFC 249 against Anthony Pettis. In that fight, he lost via a unanimous decision.

Prior to that, he was knocked out in just 40-seconds by former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
