UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal will finally face each other during the international fight week.
The fight is targeted to take place in July at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This will be Kamaru Usman’s second title defence as he is coming off of a TKO win over Colby Covington at UFC 245.
Dana White teases Jorge Masvidal vs Kamaru Usman
UFC president Dana White teased about this match-up during a recent appearance on the Jim Rome Show.
“We’re going to bring them to Vegas,” White said to Jim Rome on Friday. “Him and Usman will fight in Vegas probably International Fight Week. If [Masvidal] wins, maybe we’ll do his first title defense down here in Miami.”
“That was always the plan, and then whatever happened with them a couple of days ago, whenever that was. We hadn’t announced it yet, but now, this has forced me to announce it.”

“Do something!” Usman shouted at Masvidal. “That’s all I hear you talking. Do something! You come up talking. Do something!”
“You got a cast on, b*tch,” Masvidal fired back. “I ain’t going to take advantage of you like that. You got a cast on b*tch. You lucky. That’s the only reason nothing’s happening.”
“You’re the one walking away. He pushed you back? You got a cast on, [expletive]. You’re lucky, that’s the only reason nothing has happened to you,” added Masvidal. (H/T – SCMP)
In an interview with Ariel Helwani, the BMF belt holder also expressed interest in fighting Kamaru Usman next.
“The dude ain’t go no personality. He has 17 different f*cking personalities and not one of them is made for TV. So I want to f*ck his ass up.”
“Usman, you punk motherf*cker,” Masvidal said. “Look me in my eyes, Usman, when you see this interview and know that nothing but the truth comes from me. You’re f*cking dead.” (H/T – MMA Fighting)
Masvidal’s popularity shot through the roof following three consecutive knockout victories last year, with the six-second KO of Ben Asken being the most prominent one.
On the other hand, Usman is coming off of a fifth-round TKO victory over Colby Covington at UFC 245. Prior to that, he won the UFC title by defeated Tyron Woodley at UFC 235.
