UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou have been going back and forth on social media. Jones seems to be ready to move up to the heavyweight division and Francis Ngannou is ready to welcome him.

It was Jones who took to twitter first and hinted the move to the heavyweight division. During the Ovince St-Preux vs Ben Rothwell fight, Jones was visualizing himself in OSP’s position. Jones stated that OSP looked fine for his first fight in the heavyweight division.

Man it was weird seeing OSP fight at heavyweight, made it seem so much more real for me. Especially knowing he was at 240lbs. With a little more cardio, he would’ve been [Cherry emoji],” Jones said on Twitter. “I was visualizing myself as him that whole fight,”

Ngannou noticed Jones’ tweet and sent out a tweet of his own asking how real the move to HW seemed. Jon replied by saying it was way too real.

“Seemed so real Francis, all that power means nothing when your hay makers are too slow. I’m not most my friend,” Jones replied to Ngannou’s tweet.

Jones doubled down on Ngannou and said that anyone who thinks that he wouldn’t have an easy time with the Cameroonian then they were insane.

Who would you guys consider the quicker and more technical striker Thiago Santos or Francis? If you guys think I wouldn’t take this fight you’re insane. I have absolutely nothing else to prove as a light heavyweight. I’d love that big money fight right around now. Send the deal,” Jones said.

Francis Ngannou doesn’t think Jon Jones fight will happen

Former heavyweight title challenger said on twitter than Jon Jones has nothing to prove at 205lbs. He also said that the fight makes sense financially.

If you think you can handle my technique level that’s finebut I agree with you that you don’t have anything to prove in LHW division and that this should be for bags,” Ngannou quoted Jones’ tweet.

Speaking to BJPenn, Ngannou stated that he doesn’t believe a fight with Jones will take place. However, if a fight does take place, he is extremely confident of knocking out Jones.

I don’t think the Jon Jones fight will happen. People have been talking about Jones moving up for years. If he does move up, I’d love that fight,” Ngannou said. “But, they have to give me bags of money for that fight because that is a super fight. It would have to be worth it.”

I am not fighting him to lose. I will hand Jon Jones his first loss. Jones has a good chin but I will test how good it is,” he added. “I can land punches on him and knock him out he has been hit before.”(H/T – BJPenn.com)
